Positive Attitude Changes Everything

Making the world a happier place one person at a time.

Are You Happy?

Are you happy?  I mean, REALLY happy.  I wonder how many people could honestly answer “Yes!  I am really happy!”?  I have a feeling it wouldn’t be very many people.  I think most people would just kind of shrug their shoulders and say “Yeah, I guess so.”  But what I’m really guessing is that, in all honesty, most people aren’t really very happy at all.  I mean genuinely happy.  I think a lot of people are like I was most of my life – wandering aimlessly through life wondering “Is this really all there is?  Because this doesn’t seem all that great.” They’ve just kind of settled with their lives the way they are and never thought about doing anything to make it any better.

Ask yourself right now, are you truly happy?  Are you honestly happy with every aspect of your life right now?  If not, why?  Because, you know, you can be.  You should be.  You have every right to be.  You decide every single day if you are happy or not.  And if you’re not, it’s because you chose not to be.  Maybe you didn’t consciously decide to be unhappy but settling for anything less than 100% happy is pretty much deciding to be unhappy.  We each have control over our own lives.  It may not seem like it but we do.  Everyday that we go through life unhappy about any single thing, we have made the decision to be unhappy.  We don’t have a lot of control over the people or situations that make us unhappy but the one thing we do have control over is ourselves.  We are the only people that decide if we are going to be happy or not.  It’s up to us.

So let me ask you again, are you happy?  Really happy?  If not, why not?  And what are you doing to change that?  Because, you know, you’re the only one that can change it.  We can all hope that some day a Fairy Godmother will show up and do it for us but why wait?  Why not just be happy now?  If there’s something in your life that you’re not happy about, CHANGE IT!  It may seem like it’s impossible to change but it’s not.  Big changes start with little changes.  If it seems like it’s impossible then you’re not trying hard enough.  You can be successful or you can make excuses but you can’t do both.  Just keep breaking it down.  Overcome your excuses.  When you come up with an excuse, find a way to get around that excuse and keep going until you can’t think of any more excuses.  For every excuse you think of, ask yourself “Why?” and figure out the answer.  Eventually you’ll figure out exactly what you need to do to be happy.  Never stop asking “WHY!?!” until you can honestly say you’re happy.  No one else is going to make you happy but YOU.  Everyone else is worried about their own happiness (or unhappiness).  If you want to be happy, it’s up to you.

So what are you doing to make yourself happy today?

Why worry?

Worrying is like praying for something you don't want. When I first started learning about the Law of Attraction, one of the first principles that really hit home for me was how important it is to maintain a positive attitude.   There’s a  phrase that you might have heard that says “Energy goes where attention flows”.  Basically, what you think about is what you bring into your life.  So if you’re spending all of your time focusing on your problems, you’re asking the Universe for more of the same.  The Universe doesn’t differentiate between negative and positive when it comes to what you ask for.  It just reads what’s in your mind and responds with “Okay, here it is!”  So think about what kind of stuff usually runs through your mind all day long.  Is it stuff like:

“Ugh!  This traffic is horrible!”  (Horrible traffic?  Okay, here it is!)

“I hate my job!”  (Lousy job?  Okay, here it is!)

“I am so fat and ugly.” (Fat and ugly?  Okay, here it is!)

“I am so tired of not having enough money!”  (Not enough money?  Okay, here it is!)

Are you getting the picture?  Kind of like the image I posted at the top of this blog says, “Worrying is like praying for something you don’t want.”  Why would you pray for something you don’t want!?!  But you are every time you let your mind wander off and think about all the negative things in your life.

When you think about something, it’s like you’re placing an order with the Universe.  So instead of thinking about things that you DON’T want in your life, focus on the things that you DO want in your life.

“I love it when my commute to work is smooth.” (Smooth commute to work?  Okay, here it is!)

“What if I found a job that I loved!?!” (A job that you love?  Okay, here it is!)

“Now that I’m working out and watching what I eat, I’m losing weight and getting healthier every day!” (Lose weight and get healthier every day?  Okay, here it is!)

That brings me to another phrase that I heard recently:

I'm not telling you it is going to be easy, I'm telling you it's going to be worth it.It’s not going to be easy, especially if you have been thinking negative thoughts for a long time.  But it will get easier with practice.  The first couple of times you won’t realize that you’re “praying for something you don’t want” but the next time you’ll kind of kick yourself and say “Geez, knock it off!” and then you’ll think “Wait a minute, what did it say in that blog about thinking about what I want instead of what I don’t want?”  And you’ll start thinking about stuff that you DO want instead of what you DON’T want.  And you know what?  If you keep thinking about stuff that you want, it will start showing up!  Give it a try for a week or two and come back here and tell me what you think.😉

Now what?

Okay, so it’s been a week since my last blog post.  It has been a good week!  The day I started this blog I also created a new Facebook page:  The P.A.C.E. Page – Positive Attitude Changes Everything.  I have to tell you, it has been absolutely WONDERFUL!  WitIf you want to be happier, focus on what makes you happy.hin the first week I have had 147 people “Like” my page and the feedback has been exhilarating!  Now I know what they mean when they say that you’ll know when you’ve found your passion!  This is definitely it!

So, as the title of this blog post asks, now what?  What do I blog about?  I’m most definitely not an EXPERT on the Law of Attraction or the power of positive thinking.  I am still a student myself.  But I am certain that I need to share my passion with others.  There are so many people out there living unhappy lives and thinking that they are destined to live like that forever.  I want to show them all that that’s not true!

There are so many books I’ve read that have each taught me about the Law of Attraction from so many different points of view.  I think what I’m going to do is look at my notes from those books (yes – I take notes when I read…don’t you?) and start blogging about those.  About the things that really had an impact on me and made a difference in my life.

One thing that definitely struck a chord with me this week is the image that I’ve included in this post.  A beautiful, colorful piece of art from Karen Salmansohn that says “If you want to be happier focus on what makes you happy.”  This is one of the basics of the Law of Attraction and it’s pretty easy to understand.  When you sit around and dwell on all of the negative things that are going on in your life, how do you expect to let any positivity in?  Another popular saying is “Energy goes where focus flows”, meaning if you focus on things that you don’t want, you’ll get more of the same.  So it only makes sense to focus on the things that you DO want to attract them into your life.  I know, I know, I’m getting ahead of myself.  Let’s try an exercise I heard in Karen Luniw’s podcast last week.  For the next week or so, I want you to be on the look out for green Volkswagons.  Consciously look for them.  When you get in your car, remind yourself “I’m looking for green Volkswagons today”.  I’ll check back with you next week to find out how many green Volkswagons you see.  Until then, have an absolutely fabulous week and remember…

“If you want to be happier focus on what makes you happy.”

Hello world!

Welcome to my new blog!  I’m very excited to start it.  I have been a student of The Law of Attraction for several years now and I find it absolutely fascinating!  I have been trying to figure out how to teach other people about the Law of Attraction for quite some time and have struggled until now.  For some reason, tonight I realized that I could do it through social media!  I don’t know why I never thought of it before!

A bit about me…

I am a happily married wife and mother of two kids.  After I had my son, I started to get a little restless in my corporate job (having babies has a funny way of making people feel that way).  Three years later, when I had my daughter, I pretty much decided I no longer had a desire to drop my kids off at daycare to go spend 8 hours a day doing work that I didn’t enjoy.  Let’s just say that depression and pregnancy hormones don’t mix!

I will always remember the day that everything started to change.  In a good way.  I was standing in our kitchen and my husband said (quite innocently), “Sweetie, would you like to read this issue of Success magazine?  It’s the All Women issue.”  To which I replied, “Why?  So I can feel like more of a failure than I already am?”

HOLY CRAP!  Where did that come from?  How did I get to such a point in my life that I felt like a complete failure?  (Again, I remind you, depression and pregnancy hormones . . . NOT a good combination!)

Later that day, when I was in my manager’s office pumping breast milk for my daughter (no, my manager wasn’t in his office at the time),Rich Dad Poor Dad I was reading the Letter From the Editor in a women’s magazine and she asked, simply, “What’s your five year plan?”.  Five year plan?  Hell, I didn’t even have a plan for tomorrow, let alone five years from now!

That’s when it hit me.  I am in control of my own life.  I don’t have to do stuff that I don’t want to do.  I didn’t haveThink and Grow Rich to keep going to a job that I didn’t like.

So when I got home that night, I asked my husband, “Do you still have that copy of Success magazine?”  He did.  I read it.  It was amazing! (Read it for free at www.successmagazine.com.)

I read a book they suggested (Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert T. Kiyosaki) and that opened the floodgates!  I had to know more!  After reading Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill (which should be required reading for every high school senior! The Success Principles), I started buying books in audio format so I could listen to them while I drove (because, seriously, how many moms have time to actually read?).  Some of my favorites were The Success Principles by Jack Canfield, The Master Key to Riches by Napoleon Hill, The Secret by Rhonda Byrne and The Power by Rhonda Byrne. The Master Key to Riches

Okay, okay, okay. . . I didn’t mean to overwhelm anybody with my first blog post!  I just get very excited about this subject!  But I will be honest, it’s not easy to be positive all the time.  That’s one of the reasons I am starting this blog.  It’s one thing to study the Law of Attraction but it’s another to live it every day.  Blogging about it in an effort to teach others about it will help me to go beyond student and, hopefully, make a difference in other peoples’ lives as well.

I hope you’ll stick with me and see how it turns out!
